Childrens IRO – Child Protection Chair – #000B455E1

August 3, 2026
£40 - £40 / hour

Job Description

An exciting interim opportunity has arisen with Bury Council (GM Collaboration) for an experienced Childrens Independent Reviewing Officer and Child Protection Chair, based in Bury (BL9 0EJ) at £40 per hour. The contract runs from 24 August to 2 November 2026.

This is a dual CP Chair / CLA IRO role with responsibility for providing an independent chairing service for multi-agency and departmental meetings relating to Child Protection and Looked After Children. You will facilitate effective inter-agency and departmental communication across all relevant partner agencies, and promote and monitor adherence to Child Protection procedures and the statutory requirements for Looked After Children — ensuring a consistent, high-quality service to children and families receiving services from the Department.

Candidates must be qualified social workers registered with Social Work England and bring demonstrable experience in both IRO and CP Chair functions. Please note: suppliers are required to complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions (Details tab) and attach the completed file to the candidate record prior to submission. Applications will not progress without this.

If you are an experienced IRO/CP Chair available from late August 2026, please get in touch today.
