Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Recycling Advisor with North London Waste Authority (NLWA), employed via London Borough of Camden, based at 25 Ashley Road, Tottenham Hale, London N17 9LJ. The rate is £17.77–£23.09 per hour, starting 27 August 2026.

NLWA serves two million residents across seven north London boroughs, running engagement campaigns to reduce waste and improve recycling. In this field-based role you will increase participation in recycling services and reduce contamination by engaging directly with residents and businesses through door-to-door visits, property surveys, community events and roadshows.

Key responsibilities include conducting residential surveys to identify barriers to recycling, providing tailored advice on correct recycling practices, monitoring participation levels, maintaining accurate records of visits and feedback, and supporting communications campaigns with local insights. You will work closely with collections, communications and enforcement colleagues to address local recycling challenges.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working directly with the public through outreach, community engagement or advisory work, good data-recording skills (surveys, CRM, Excel), and a confident, persuasive communication style. An awareness of recycling and environmental issues is desirable; training is available. The role is Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00–18:00, with flexibility for earlier or later shifts. Travel across the authority area by public transport is required (Oyster card provided), and the role involves walking long distances and working outdoors in all weathers.
