Job Description

Help prevent homelessness and change lives across Rochdale.

Rochdale Borough Council is seeking a Homelessness Prevention Officer to join its dedicated Homelessness & Prevention Service on a temporary contract from 29 July 2026 to 29 January 2027, based at Smith Street, Rochdale (OL16 1XU). The rate is £16.62 per hour.

In this role you will manage your own caseload, undertake homelessness assessments, develop Personalised Housing Plans, and work in partnership with colleagues across housing, health, social care and the voluntary sector. You will support a diverse range of customers — including young people, families, survivors of domestic abuse, people leaving institutions, and those with complex support needs — to secure safe and sustainable housing outcomes.

We are looking for candidates with:
• Experience of homelessness prevention and housing casework.
• Sound knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Strong assessment, decision-making and case management skills.
• A customer-focused, solution-driven approach.
• The ability to build effective relationships with customers and partner agencies.
