Job Description

Bolton Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join their Kinship and Special Guardianship service, based in Tonge Moor, Bolton (BL2 2JW). This is a hybrid role with a requirement to be office-based or undertake visits to meet service needs. Core hours are Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with free on-site parking.

The successful candidate will have post-qualifying experience working with and supporting kinship carers and Special Guardians. Key responsibilities include undertaking assessments of Kinship Carers and Special Guardians, completing annual and other required reviews to evaluate and monitor the care of looked-after children, and providing ongoing supervision and support to ensure the highest quality of care. You will identify support, training, and preparation needs to further develop carers’ skills, advise and assist colleagues in placing individual children with kinship carers and substitute families, and attend reviews, case conferences, strategy and network meetings as required. You will also organise a kinship fostering information and advisory service for colleagues and members of the public.

References will be requested for candidates offered an interview, and a DBS will be required for any candidate offered a post.
