Job Description

Powys County Council is seeking a qualified Childrens Social Worker to join their Care and Support service, based at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, Powys (LD1 5LG). This is a locum opportunity paying between £29.34 and £38.43 per hour, commencing 3 August 2026.

Powys is a large rural county in mid-Wales, and this role will involve travelling across a wide geographical area. The distance matrix provided indicates the service covers towns including Brecon, Builth Wells, Newtown, Welshpool, Knighton, and surrounding communities — candidates must be comfortable with regular travel across rural mid-Wales.

Applicants must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England (or Social Care Wales). Experience in children’s social care is essential.
