Job Description

Bromley Council is seeking a Business Support Officer to join the Contracts, Projects & Business Support Team within the Public Protection Division (Environment & Public Protection Department) on a 6-month agency contract based in Bromley, BR1 1AS. The rate is £18.03–£23.47 per hour, starting 3 August 2026.

This role provides high-quality administrative and front-line support to the Nuisance and Licensing teams, with a strong digital focus. The first two months will centre on improving data migrated from the Uniform system to the new Idox Cloud case management system.

Key responsibilities include responding to enquiries from the public, council officers and external organisations; maintaining and analysing records in Idox Cloud; processing licence, permit and registration applications; coordinating statutory consultations with Licensing, Health & Safety, Food Safety, Fire and Police authorities; and supporting digital transformation initiatives across Public Protection services.

Candidates will also use Microsoft 365 confidently — including Excel (for data analysis, reporting and performance monitoring), Teams, Word and Power BI — and contribute to procedure manuals and digital work instructions.

Essential requirements: GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths; experience in an administrative or customer-facing role; strong IT skills; ability to learn new systems quickly; excellent written and verbal communication; and strong attention to detail.

Desirable: NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration, Customer Service or ICT; Microsoft 365 certification.
