Job Description

An experienced Adults Advanced Practitioner is sought to join Wirral MBC’s Adult Safeguarding Team based in Birkenhead (CH41 2YA), on a temporary agency basis at £29.76–£38.38 per hour, starting 27 July 2026.

This is a pivotal role within a busy MASH-aligned Adult Safeguarding Team. You will work alongside another Advanced Practitioner, a Team Manager and Senior Manager to support the day-to-day running of the team, ensuring the highest quality of professional safeguarding practice in line with legislation, policies, procedures and best practice.

Key responsibilities include: working with stakeholders at the start of and during safeguarding enquiries; applying collaborative risk management and defensible decision-making; providing professional supervision and advice to experienced Social Workers and a Care Navigator; delivering a consultation service to professionals on safeguarding thresholds, referrals, section 42 enquiries and Mental Capacity Assessments; and supporting Duty workers with triaging to reduce inappropriate referrals and ensure timely onward referral decisions.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have demonstrable experience in an Advanced Practitioner role within adult safeguarding. Strong knowledge of safeguarding thresholds, section 42 enquiries and Mental Capacity Assessments is essential.
