Job Description

Trafford Council is seeking two experienced Childrens Social Workers to join its Cared For Children team on a contract basis, based at Talbot Road, Manchester (M32 0TH).

This is a looked-after children role requiring a qualified social worker with solid LAC experience. Two posts are available, running from 1 June 2026 to 30 December 2026.

The rate is £35–£39 per hour (umbrella) depending on experience, paid via XMS. Working pattern is hybrid with three days per week in the office and flexibility around the remainder.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and be able to provide five years of references with all gaps in employment history accounted for. Relevant qualifications will be verified against the job description/person specification.

Note for suppliers: the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions must be completed and attached to the candidate record prior to submission. Applications without this will not progress.
