Job Description
Manchester City Council is seeking experienced Children’s Social Workers to join its North Court and Locality Services team based at the Harpurhey District Office in Manchester. Two posts are available: one part-time role working 2.5 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday half-day), and one full-time, five-day post. Both are offered at £35 per hour and are required from 1st June 2026 through to 11th August 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an Outstanding-rated local authority, contributing to meaningful outcomes for children and families across North Manchester. The team handles a complex and varied caseload encompassing child protection, child in need plans, care proceedings, and court work.
Successful candidates will have demonstrable experience in managing child protection cases, child in need plans, care proceedings, and court proceedings, along with the ability to prepare and present Section 37 and Section 7 reports. Parenting assessment experience is also essential. The team values professionals who can support and develop students or less experienced colleagues, and who thrive working collaboratively within a team environment.
Roles are primarily office-based at Harpurhey District Office, though flexible working arrangements will be considered. Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
