Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Adoption Recruitment and Assessment team based at County Hall, Preston (PR1 8RE), with a predominantly home-working arrangement.
This is a hybrid role covering the whole of Lancashire, Blackpool, and Blackburn & Darwen. The successful candidate will work from home the majority of the week, attending County Hall on Wednesdays as their base day. The breadth of geographic coverage makes this a varied and rewarding position with real reach across the county.
Key responsibilities include the recruitment and assessment of prospective adopters and foster carers, conducting Form F and related assessments, and contributing to the team’s work in matching children with suitable families. Experience in fostering and/or adoption recruitment is essential to this role.
All applicants must hold at least three years’ experience in a permanent post within a local authority and must not have held a permanent or fixed-term LA position within the last 12 weeks prior to commencing this assignment.
This is a locum position paying £36.00 per hour, available from 5 May 2026 via the Comensura framework. Interviews are scheduled for 27 April.
If you are a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with a strong background in adoption or fostering assessment, we would love to hear from you. Please apply now to be considered.
