*Personal Advisor – Leaving Care Team – #OR100474

April 23, 2026
£16 - £20 / hour

Job Description

Are you passionate about making a lasting difference in the lives of young people leaving care? The London Borough of Bexley is seeking an experienced Personal Advisor to join its Leaving Care Team, based at the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath, DA6 7AT. This is a meaningful role working with care leavers aged 18–25, supporting their transition into successful adulthood.

You will hold an allocated caseload, completing thorough needs assessments to inform and regularly review individual Pathway Plans. Key responsibilities include providing information, advice, and guidance tailored to each young person; facilitating multi-agency collaboration; advocating for care leavers in formal settings such as court hearings and tribunal appointments; and supporting access to education, employment, training, and appropriate housing. You will also manage leaving care grants and university bursaries, assist young people with benefit queries, and carry out risk assessments including Human Rights Assessments for those with unresolved immigration matters.

The team uses the Signs of Safety model throughout its practice, and training will be provided. You will maintain regular contact with young people wherever they reside — which may involve travel across the UK and occasionally overseas.

Candidates should have demonstrable experience working with young people leaving care or in a similar advocacy or support role, a sound knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance, and strong recording skills. Experience using the Signs of Safety framework is advantageous. The role pays £15.75–£20.43 per hour and is available from 11 May 2026.

If you are committed to empowering young people and have the skills to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community, we want to hear from you. Apply now.
