Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Team Manager to join children’s services in Bexleyheath, Kent, covering the MASH, Referral & Assessment, and Child Protection / Family Placement functions.

In this pivotal role, you will provide strong operational leadership to a frontline team managing initial referrals, assessments, and child protection cases. You will ensure the highest standards of practice, safeguard children and young people, and drive performance across the service. Working from the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath, you will oversee case allocation, supervision of social workers, and quality assurance, whilst collaborating with partner agencies to deliver effective, timely responses to children in need and at risk.

Key responsibilities include managing a busy MASH and Referral & Assessment team, overseeing child protection processes, supporting practitioners through reflective supervision, and reporting on performance to senior managers. You will champion best practice and ensure statutory obligations are met at all times.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Substantial post-qualifying experience in children’s services, including management experience within MASH, Referral & Assessment, or Child Protection, is essential. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, is required.

This is a temporary contract based at Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, DA6 7AT, offering a competitive hourly rate of £32.84–£44.77. The role is available from 4 May 2026.
