Job Description

Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for your next locum opportunity in a busy front-line children’s service? Calderdale’s Duty and Assessment Team in Halifax is seeking a committed Social Worker to join them from May 2026 on an initial contract through to the end of July 2026.

Based at Princess Buildings in Halifax (HX1 1TS), you will be central to delivering a quality statutory service to children in need of support and protection. Working within a front-line duty and assessment team, your caseload will encompass child and family single assessments, risk assessments, strategy discussions, and Section 47 enquiries. You will also prepare child impact reports for Private Law proceedings and Public Law court reports, as well as attending court when required.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience in a statutory children’s front-line setting. Confidence in court work, report writing, and working under the pressures of a duty team is essential. Experience of working within a duty and assessment or MASH environment will be a distinct advantage.
