Job Description
Royal Holloway, University of London is seeking an experienced Senior Governance Officer to join its Governance Office team on an interim basis at its Egham campus (TW20 0EX), at a day rate of £177.01–£233.85, starting 29 June 2026.
This is a senior role working closely with the University Secretary, University Executive Board, and University Council (Board). The postholder will manage key governance structures including Council and its committees, coordinate papers and presentations, and ensure business is conducted in line with committee terms of reference.
Key responsibilities include taking and distributing minutes at Board and committee level, maintaining the actions and decisions log, following up actions and communicating decisions to paper authors, advising on paper scheduling within the University’s business cycle, and supporting the University Secretary in regulatory, legal and statutory compliance.
Candidates must be educated to degree level and demonstrate experience in governance or management within a higher education institution or large, complex organisation, with a strong record of minute-taking and high-level administrative support. Excellent drafting skills, the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion, and the capacity to work under pressure to strict deadlines are essential.
A CG qualification (e.g., Chartered Governance Institute) and experience of board management portals such as BoardPad, Diligent, or CivicaGM are desirable.
