Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEND Needs Assessment Plan Writer to join a specialist SEND Service based at Delamere House, Crewe (CW1 2JZ). This is a locum role offering £20.28 per hour, available from 27th April 2026.
This role sits within a dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities service, contributing directly to the lives of children and young people who require statutory EHC (Education, Health and Care) plan provision. The post holder will be responsible for writing high-quality, legally compliant SEND needs assessments and EHC plans, ensuring that the needs of children and young people with complex disabilities and learning difficulties are accurately captured and effectively communicated.
Key responsibilities are likely to include: conducting or coordinating SEND needs assessments; drafting and finalising EHC plans to statutory timescales; liaising with families, schools, health professionals, and other stakeholders; and maintaining thorough case records in line with legislative and local authority requirements.
Candidates will require an enhanced DBS check including checks against both the children’s and adults’ barred lists, as required for this type of regulated activity.
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant professional qualification (social work, educational psychology, or equivalent) and have demonstrable experience within a SEND or children’s disability service. Strong report-writing skills, knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, and the ability to manage a caseload to tight deadlines are essential.
