Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Recycling Advisor with North London Waste Authority (NLWA), employed via London Borough of Camden, based at Tottenham Hale, N17 9LJ. The rate is £17.77–£23.09 per hour, starting 22 September 2026.

NLWA serves two million residents across seven north London boroughs, running campaigns to reduce waste and increase recycling. In this role you will increase participation in recycling services and reduce contamination by engaging directly with residents and businesses across the authority area.

Key responsibilities include conducting property surveys and door-to-door visits, running community events and roadshows to promote food and packaging recycling, providing tailored advice on correct use of recycling services, monitoring participation levels and capturing resident feedback, distributing campaign materials, supporting communications and social media content with local insights, and maintaining accurate records of visits and engagement activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working directly with the public through outreach, community engagement, sales or advisory work, alongside good communication skills and an awareness of recycling and environmental issues. Experience of recording data accurately (surveys, CRM systems, Excel) is required. Basic IT skills, a positive attitude and physical ability to walk long distances and work outdoors in all weathers are essential.

Hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 am–6:00 pm, with flexibility for earlier or later shifts. Travel around the authority area by public transport is required; an Oyster card will be provided.
