Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) based in Oldham, working within the GM Collaboration on behalf of Oldham Council. This is a 3-month temporary contract (potential extension of a further 3 months) at £19.33 per hour, with an immediate start required from 7 September 2026.
Working as an independent advocate, you will ensure that victims of domestic violence and abuse — including those who have had to leave their homes and move into safe temporary accommodation — are placed at the heart of the service. Where domestic violence is a factor in a household, you will ensure the voice of the child is heard.
Key responsibilities include leading on high-quality, bespoke interventions for high and medium risk victims of domestic violence and abuse, using appropriate assessment tools alongside the DASH risk assessment to determine need and develop safety plans. You will also provide support in safe accommodation and assistance to eligible households under the Housing Act 1996 as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and promote and work to the aims and objectives of the Domestic Violence and Abuse Strategy.
IDVA experience is essential. The role is office-based at West Street, Oldham, OL1 1LF.
