Job Description

The London Borough of Redbridge is seeking an experienced Group Accountant – High Needs Block to join its Education & Inclusion Directorate, based at Lynton House, Ilford (hybrid, minimum 2 days per week on-site). This is a full-time interim role, 36 hours per week, reporting to the Education Service Business Manager with line management responsibility for up to 4 staff. Rate: £433.50–£575.00 per day. Start date: 22 July 2026.

As the principal finance lead for the High Needs Block, you will provide expert financial management, business partnering, and strategic advice to senior stakeholders across Education, Inclusion, and SEND services. Key responsibilities include leading budget monitoring, forecasting, and financial performance reporting; financial modelling and scenario planning; supporting service transformation and business case development; contributing to statutory accounts and external audit requirements; and managing and developing the SEND Finance Team.

Candidates must be CCAB or CIMA qualified (or hold substantial equivalent senior-level finance experience) with significant experience in financial management within a large, complex organisation, including local authority finance, statutory accounting, and the closedown and Statement of Accounts process. Strong stakeholder influencing skills and experience managing professional finance teams are essential.
