Family Time Worker – Children’s Services – #5303119
Job Description
Semester Recruitment is seeking dedicated Family Time Workers for Durham County Council, based at Taylor Road Outreach Centre, DL14 6EB, with travel across County Durham (primarily the south of the county). This is a temporary role running from 30 August to 21 November 2026, approximately 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday with afternoon hours in highest demand. The pay rate is £17.24 per hour, with mileage expenses reimbursed in line with council policy.
In this role you will facilitate and support family time arrangements, working directly with children, young people, and their families across a range of venues. You will use observation and assessment skills to produce detailed, accurate records and reports, support social workers in their work with vulnerable children and families, supervise safe conveyance of children to and from venues where required, and liaise with other agencies to promote service user participation.
Essential requirements include recent experience working with children and families, a full driving licence, access to a vehicle with Essential Car User status, and appropriate business insurance. A Level 3 qualification is desirable but not essential. We are looking for reliable, flexible, child-focused individuals who can build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and safeguarding responsibilities.
