Job Description

Bromley Council is seeking a qualified social worker with mental health experience to join ADAPT East, a multidisciplinary community mental health team based at Carlton Parade, Orpington. This locum opportunity arises whilst a team member takes a period of unpaid leave.

ADAPT East is an integrated team comprising social workers, mental health nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and medics. The team supports residents with affective disorders (including bi-polar disorder), eating disorders, hoarding, anxiety, and trauma histories, providing care in clients’ own homes, in placements, and facilitating hospital discharge.

Key responsibilities include holding and care-coordinating a manageable caseload, carrying out duties under the Care Act (including Care Act assessments, carer assessments, and adult safeguarding), and occasionally acting on duty as part of a team rota following induction. Experience as an Enquiry Officer (EO) and/or Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM) is highly desirable.

You will benefit from high-quality formal and informal supervision from a well-established, highly experienced Senior Social Worker. The role is predominantly office-based, with a minimum of four days per week at Carlton Parade — remote working is not suitable for this post. Free parking is available on-site; the office is also accessible by bus and is a 20-minute walk from Orpington train station.
