Job Description

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced Family Support Worker to join their Family Help service, based in Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU). This is a temporary role paying £15.84–£20.46 per hour via Prism, starting 15 June 2026.

In this lead practitioner role, you will act as the key professional for children and families receiving Targeted Early Help and Child in Need support. You will lead needs-led Family Assessments and develop multi-agency Family Help plans, delivering evidence-based interventions and facilitating review meetings across a diverse caseload.

Key responsibilities include completing assessments and reports, building trusted relationships with children and families, contributing to Strategy Meetings and Child Protection Conferences, and ensuring timely escalation when risk increases. You will work closely with Practice Supervisors and Team Managers, develop strong partnerships with partner agencies, and maintain accurate case records in line with relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding guidance.

The successful candidate will have experience in early help or children’s family support, strong assessment skills, and a commitment to inclusive, strengths-based practice. You will be confident working within multi-agency frameworks and supporting families to make lasting positive changes.
