Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Family Group Conference Coordinator to join a Children and Families service based in County Durham (DH2 3PQ), supporting vulnerable children and young people through meaningful family-led planning.
In this pivotal role, you will work directly with children and families who are open to a social work team, helping to develop safe, sustainable plans for children and young people by harnessing the strength of their wider family networks. Your work will make a genuine difference to outcomes for some of the most vulnerable young people in the community.
Key responsibilities include:
– Facilitating Family Group Conferences with children, families, and their wider networks
– Collaborating closely with social work teams to identify appropriate referrals
– Supporting families to build and sustain safe plans for children and young people
– Maintaining accurate records and liaising with multi-agency professionals
This is a part-time, 22-hour-per-week post, predominantly worked Monday to Friday, with some weekend working required as part of a rota system. The role is offered at a rate of £20.29 per hour, starting 5th May 2026.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with children and families in a social care or community setting, excellent communication and facilitation skills, and a sound understanding of family group conferencing models or restorative practice.
