Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Executive Support Officer to join a busy local authority directorate based in Ormskirk, Lancashire. This is a flexible office-based role paying between £15.23 and £19.86 per hour, available from 25 May 2026.

You will deliver a highly professional, confidential administrative support service to Directors and Assistant Directors across Finance and Corporate Resources, Housing and Environment, or Planning, Economy and Wellbeing and Leisure directorates. Your contribution will be central to effective service delivery and organisational performance.

Key responsibilities include managing correspondence, diaries, appointments and minute taking; administering management information systems; processing purchase orders, invoices and recharges; collating and inputting data accurately; and organising internal and external meetings including agendas, refreshments and facility bookings. You will serve as a first point of contact for Elected Members, senior officers and external stakeholders, handling queries with professionalism and discretion.

The ideal candidate will bring strong administrative experience within a public sector or local government environment, excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, and a proven ability to manage competing priorities under pressure. You will be confident communicating at all levels, committed to maintaining the highest standards of customer care, and comfortable working within a 36-hour Monday-to-Friday week.
