Job Description

Are you an experienced Children’s Social Worker looking for a meaningful long-term role in a dedicated permanence-focused service in the North East?

The Safe and Supported Service works with children and families requiring longer-term involvement, operating across Child in Need Plans, Child Protection Plans, and both public and private Court proceedings. The team supports children until final plans of permanence are agreed — including long-term fostering, long-term residential care, and adoption — providing continuity and stability for some of the most vulnerable young people in the area.

Key responsibilities include managing a caseload of children and families under CIN Plans, CP Plans, and Court proceedings; working collaboratively towards plans of permanence; supporting transitions to the Cared for Teams where appropriate; and progressing adoption cases through to Adoption Order.

You will be joining a structured, purpose-led team based at Quadrant East, Newcastle (NE27 0BY), with a rate of £34.45 per hour. The role commenced April 2026 on an ongoing basis.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have demonstrable post-qualifying experience in children’s services — ideally within CIN, CP, Court, or permanence work.
