Job Description

Knowsley Borough Council are seeking an established Childrens Team Manager to lead their Young Persons Team (YPT) in Huyton, Merseyside on a locum basis.

This team works with looked-after young people aged 14–18, carrying a caseload that spans care planning, permanence, and transitions work. The team also undertakes joint homeless 16+ assessments and works with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). An understanding of contextual risk — including harm outside the home — would be a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience managing a children’s social care team at this level. You will be confident providing practice leadership, supporting and supervising social workers, and managing complex cases involving older looked-after young people.

Rate: £259.20 – £342.43 per day. Based at Poplar Bank, Huyton, Knowsley, L36 9GD. Start date 28 July 2026.
