Job Description
Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead within their Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) service, based in Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU). This is a temporary role paying £30.41–£41.42 per hour, commencing 1 July 2026.
In this role you will manage a team of Personal Advisors and support Social Workers on duty, overseeing a team of approximately seven staff including Social Workers, Senior Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Social Work Support Staff. You will be accountable for the team’s operational performance, setting and maintaining high standards of practice through reflective supervision, evidence-based auditing, and robust performance management systems.
Key responsibilities include ensuring legislative compliance and adherence to Social Work England’s Code of Practice, promoting safeguarding as the cornerstone of service delivery, contributing to budget monitoring, and overseeing timely, child-centred assessments and support. You will also foster collaborative partnerships with relevant services and contribute to continuous professional development across the team.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience in a children’s services management role. Experience working with UASC or leaving care populations would be a strong advantage.
