Job Description
Bolton Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead one of six Safeguarding teams, each comprising six social workers, based at Castleton Street, Tonge Moor, Bolton (BL2 2JW). This is a full-time temporary role (37 hours per week) running from 31 August to 27 November 2026, paying up to £45 per hour depending on experience.
You will be responsible for managing and supporting a team of social workers delivering across the full range of children’s safeguarding work, including child protection plans, children in need, care proceedings, and adoption and permanence planning. You will bring extensive knowledge of childcare law and practice, evidence-based approaches in children’s social care, and a strong track record of management in a statutory children’s safeguarding setting.
Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ post-qualifying experience with gaps in employment history checked, and hold relevant qualifications as per the Job Description and Person Specification. Bolton Council operates within the Greater Manchester Collaboration framework; all candidates must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions prior to submission — applications will not progress without this.
