Job Description

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead a safeguarding team based in Cudworth, Barnsley (S72 8SU). This is a locum opportunity running from 3 August to 26 October 2026, paying £40 per hour.

In this role you will manage a team of seven social workers, providing robust supervision, support, and professional leadership across a caseload spanning Child in Need, Child Protection, and children subject to private and public law proceedings. You will be expected to maintain high standards of practice, drive positive outcomes for children and families, and ensure your team operates safely and effectively within statutory frameworks.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Team Manager with a strong background in children’s safeguarding, including direct experience managing CIN, CP, and care proceedings work. Social Work England registration is essential.
