North Tyneside Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead a combined Practice Development and Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) function within its Safeguarding and Children’s Services directorate. Based primarily at Quadrant West (same site as Quadrant East, NE27 0BY), with some flexibility for hybrid working, this is a substantive leadership role requiring a qualified social worker with strong management credentials.
In the Practice Development remit, you will manage two Advanced Practitioners and hold responsibility for embedding a culture of continuous learning across the whole of Safeguarding and Children’s Services. Key duties include coordinating the ASYE programme and leading its redesign to align with the National Early Career Development Programme reforms, overseeing the Social Work Career and Qualification Pathway, supporting student placements from local HEIs, the Step Up to Social Work regional programme, and the Social Work Apprenticeship programme. You will champion practice values and principles to ensure children and families in North Tyneside receive outstanding support.
In the LADO capacity, you will be the council’s principal point of contact for allegations against persons working or volunteering with children in the borough, fulfilling statutory responsibilities under Working Together 2018 (updated 2023).
The role is offered on an interim basis at £36.61 per hour via Comensura, with a start date of 29 June 2026. A significant on-site presence is required. Qualified Social Work England registration is essential. Apply now to find out more.
