Job Description

Durham County Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Children’s Team Manager to cover one of its Families First Teams in the North, based at Annfield Plain Greencroft Offices, DH9 7BF.

This is a fully staffed team that also incorporates a Frontline Hub, giving you a strong foundation from which to lead. You will be responsible for supervising social workers across a broad caseload spanning child in need, child protection, children in care, and care proceedings. Beyond direct supervision, you will take ownership of performance management and quality assurance, ensuring the team consistently delivers high-quality outcomes for children and families. You will also represent the service at relevant meetings and carry out a full range of management duties.

The ideal candidate will hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience managing a children’s safeguarding or statutory team. Strong skills in supervision, quality assurance, and multi-agency working are essential.

Rate: £37.66 per hour. Start date: 7 September 2026. End date: 29 November 2026.
