Job Description

Bury Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to lead a team of field social workers delivering statutory children’s services to the local community. Based at 3 Knowsley Place, Bury (BL9 0EJ), this is a full-time locum post running from 13 July to 31 December 2026 at £42 per hour.

You will be responsible for managing the provision of field social work services, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and departmental policies. The role includes direct oversight of social work practice with children in need and their families, including those requiring child protection intervention.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, BA Hons Social Work or equivalent) and have a minimum of three years’ post-qualifying experience in a field social work setting, with substantial child protection experience.
