Bury Council is seeking an experienced and passionate Team Manager to lead a dedicated Cared for Children Team, providing effective leadership, management oversight, and professional support to social workers working with some of the most vulnerable children and young people.

Key responsibilities include providing robust supervision, coaching, and development to a team of social workers and practitioners; overseeing and quality assuring care planning, pathway planning, risk assessments, and safety planning; and leading practice with children and young people presenting with complex needs, trauma, exploitation risks, placement instability, and challenging behaviours. You will drive high-quality, child-centred practice promoting permanence and stability, ensuring effective safeguarding responses with a strong understanding of CCE, CSE, and Contextual Safeguarding. Collaborative working with partner agencies, carers, education providers, and health professionals is central to the role, alongside monitoring statutory compliance and team performance.

You will be supported by an Assistant Practitioner within the team. The successful candidate will hold a CQSW, DipSW, BA Hons Social Work or equivalent, with a minimum of three years’ post-qualifying experience in a field social work setting including substantial child protection experience.

Rate: £46 per hour | Location: Bury, BL9 0EJ | Start: 27 July 2026 | End: 12 October 2026
