Job Description

An experienced Childrens Team Manager is required by Leeds City Council to lead a busy children’s area social work team based at Farnley Park Hall, Leeds (LS12). The team undertakes duty and assessment, child protection, child in need planning, and court proceedings.

As Team Manager, you will lead, motivate, and direct a team of qualified social workers, an Advanced Practitioner, and a Social Work Assistant, ensuring high standards of practice that place the child at the centre and that the Local Authority’s statutory duties are fully met. Responsibilities include regular supervision of staff and maintaining practice quality across a multi-function caseload.

Applicants must hold a formal social work qualification (DipSW, BA or MA Social Work) and demonstrate sound knowledge and experience of safeguarding practice, including safer recruitment, the paramountcy principle, the Children Act 2004, and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2026. Knowledge of child development, adolescence, and transition to adulthood is also required.

The post is primarily office-based with some flexibility for home working. This is a temporary role running from 14 September to 28 September 2026, offered via XMS at £40 per hour.
