Job Description

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a committed, creative and resilient Childrens Social Worker to join its Leaving Care Team, working with care-experienced young people aged 15–25. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference, supporting young people through transition planning towards independence within a team praised by CIW inspectors for the quality of relationships built with young people.

You will deliver relationships-based, trauma-informed practice, supporting young people with transition planning, accommodation, education, employment and training, whilst modelling best practice and mentoring colleagues. The team benefits from protected caseloads, excellent management supervision, and regular practice development and reflection sessions. Hybrid working is offered, with a broadly even split between office and home working.

The role is offered on a day-rate basis of £212.41–£285.72 per day (start date 7 September 2026), with permanent arrangements attracting a salary of £39,186–£42,403 per annum, up to £5,992 recruitment and retention incentive, relocation package of up to £5,000, 25–32 days annual leave, and an attractive local government pension.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Care Wales. An enhanced DBS check is required.
