Job Description
Bolton Council is seeking a qualified Childrens Social Worker to join a busy and dynamic Leaving Care team based in Tonge Moor, Bolton (BL2 2JW). This is a full-time locum post (37 hours per week) running from 24 August to 27 November 2026, paying £37 per hour. Hybrid working is available, with free on-site parking.
This statutory team works with Looked After Children, Care Leavers, and Homeless Young People aged 16 to 25, some of whom present with complex and challenging needs. You will support young people in developing their Pathway to Independence, helping to improve life chances and outcomes for some of the most vulnerable young people in the borough.
The role demands excellent skills in assessment, analysis, and care planning, alongside the ability to engage meaningfully with resistant young people. You should understand the structural disadvantages faced by Care Leavers and be able to work creatively and collaboratively to address them. The team operates with a strong ethos of teamwork and holds frequent team meetings.
Applicants must be able to provide five years of references with any gaps in employment history accounted for. Suppliers are required to complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions prior to submission. Social Work England registration is essential.
