‘Staying Put’ Fostering Social Worker
The Staying Put Liaison Worker will support care planning for children and young people living in foster care, including family and friends foster care and independent fostering agency care. They will become involved from the point the young person turns 16 years, and they will track the progress of the care plan and support with information sharing to the foster carer to achieve Staying Put once the young person turns 18.
Following the young person turning 18 and the fostering arrangement ending and the Staying Put arrangement commencing the Staying Put Liaison Worker will continue to offer support to the former foster carer. They will visit on a 12-weekly basis with the aim of offering support and advice to the Staying Put host which will lead to improved stability and security for the young person.
The aim of creating a Staying Put Liaison Worker role will be to drive quality and performance in the Fostering Service and to ensure consistent oversight and scrutiny of care planning for children and young people. The role will ensure the right plan for independence is achieved for young people living in foster care and support young people to achieve continued permanence with the families with whom they have grown up.
Must be an experienced Fostering Social Worker who has a detailed understanding of Staying Put arrangements.
Must have experience in care planning and supporting stability in placements post 18yrs old
Must be confident in challenging any drift and delay
