Job Description

Knowsley Borough Council is seeking experienced Children with Disabilities Social Workers on an agency basis to support their CWD service whilst substantive recruitment is under way.

This is a well-structured service with a genuinely distinctive working model: newly allocated cases are progressed up to first hearing and then transferred, meaning Social Workers are not carrying court proceedings — an unusual and valued feature for a CP-active team. Social Workers are given seven weeks of dedicated, protected time per case to complete thorough assessments, ensure children and families access the right level of support and intervention, and manage CIN and CP cases effectively.

Caseloads are described as manageable, with high-level support from senior management and a dedicated partnership and improvement team providing day-to-day operational backing. The workforce development team offers a high standard of training.

Pay is in line with DfE rates at £39 per hour. Duty is on a 1-in-8-week rota. Free parking and refreshments are provided on site at Nutgrove Villa, Huyton.
