Job Description
Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services — rated ‘Good’ in its full ILACS Ofsted inspection — require a full-time agency Social Worker for their Children in Our Care (CIOC) service, based at 10 Duke Street, Blackburn.
This role primarily involves carrying out all duties relating to children looked after following care proceedings concluding, with additional work including discharging of care orders and other ad hoc court work. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of longer-term LAC cases, working to local authority and court timescales.
Candidates must hold current Social Work England registration, possess at least three years post-qualification experience — ideally in longer-term safeguarding and CIOC work — and be a car driver. Experience of the Protocol LCS case management system is advantageous. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and flexibility around office-based and home-working arrangements are essential (minimum three to four days per week in office).
The role runs from 14 September 2026 to 27 November 2026 at £39 per hour. A five-year reference history and employment-gap checks are required. Suppliers must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions prior to submission.
If you are an experienced children’s social worker with a strong LAC and court background, please get in touch today.
