Job Description
Oldham Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join one of four teams within the Children in Our Care Service, covering a period of maternity leave (9–12 months).
Working within a team of one Team Manager, one Advanced Practitioner, and up to six Social Workers, you will hold a caseload of up to 18 children and young people in local authority care, aged 1–18. Your work will focus on reviewing progress and developing care plans tailored to each child’s individual needs.
The role is full time, five days per week, operating on a hybrid basis: typically three days office-based at George Street, Oldham (OL1 1HD) and two days working from home.
The rate is £39 per hour. The assignment runs from 3 August 2026 to 31 July 2027.
Requirements include a recognised social work qualification, Social Work England registration, and at least five years of checkable references with employment gaps verified. Suppliers must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions and attach the completed file to the candidate record prior to submission — applications without this will not be progressed.
If you are an experienced Children’s Social Worker with a background in looked-after children or children in care, and you are available from August 2026, please get in touch.
