Job Description

Central Bedfordshire Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join their Children & Families service on a hybrid basis (minimum 2 days per week in office at Shefford, SG17 5TQ), at a rate of £29.28–£39.00 per hour, commencing 28 September 2026.

This role focuses on supporting children in care aged 15 and over, with a strong emphasis on looked after children, care proceedings, pathway planning, court proceedings, and DoLS. You will visit children in care, advocate across all areas of their care plan or pathway plan, and support young people to reach their full potential through transition to adulthood.

The role involves travel throughout the UK to visit children in placement. Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Demonstrated experience working with looked after children is essential — CVs will not be considered without this background.
