Job Description

Darlington Borough Council is seeking an experienced Social Work Manager to lead the Fostering and Kinship Care Team on a locum basis, based at Town Hall, Darlington (DL1 5QT). The role is 37 hours per week with any additional hours claimable as TOIL. Darlington operates a blended working policy, allowing a mix of home and office working in line with service requirements. All IT equipment is provided.

In this role you will provide management oversight and supervision to a team of qualified Social Workers who directly assess prospective foster and family carers. Responsibilities include supporting foster carers and kinship carers through assessment, supervision, and review processes, as well as attending Fostering Panel as the responsible Team Manager.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience in fostering, kinship care, or looked-after children services, and a proven track record of managing and supervising social work teams. Experience of Fostering Panel attendance is desirable.
