Childrens Senior Social Worker – Family Help (Edgbaston District Team) – #OR109801

July 28, 2026
£23 - £31 / hour

Job Description

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced Childrens Senior Social Worker to join the Edgbaston District Family Help Team, based at Stirchley, Birmingham (B30 3BN). This is a locum role paying £22.50–£30.57 per hour via Prism, starting 3 August 2026.

Family Help is Birmingham Children’s Trust’s integrated approach to supporting children and families earlier, reducing unnecessary handovers and promoting trauma-informed, strengths-based practice. Working within the Trust’s Connections Count practice framework, you will hold a caseload of Child in Need and statutory assessment work, keeping the child’s voice central to every stage of assessment, planning and intervention.

Key responsibilities include undertaking Child and Family Assessments and Child in Need plans in line with the Children Act 1989 and Working Together guidance; building trusting, relationship-based connections with children, young people and families; completing high-quality, analytical, evidence-based assessments and plans; managing risk and escalating safeguarding concerns appropriately; and working collaboratively with schools, health, police and voluntary sector partners through Family Network Meetings and multi-agency forums.

Applicants must hold a recognised social work qualification (Degree, DipSW, or CQSW), be registered with Social Work England, and have demonstrable experience of Child and Family Assessments and CIN work. Strong report-writing, caseload management and multi-agency partnership skills are essential.
