Adults Social Worker – Hospital Social Work Team – #OR110255

Job Description

Barnet Council is seeking a qualified Adults Social Worker to join the hospital social work team based at the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead (NW3 2QG). This is a locum role paying £23.50–£32.20 per hour via Prism, commencing 3 August 2026.

You will deliver high-quality social work to adults and carers under the Care Act 2014, undertaking comprehensive assessments for older people, adults with physical and sensory needs, and those with learning disabilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting Mental Capacity Act assessments, safeguarding enquiries in line with Making Safeguarding Personal principles, and developing personalised, outcomes-led care and support plans using a strengths-based and enablement approach. You will manage an allocated caseload, chair and participate in reviews, liaise with CCG and hospital trust colleagues, and work collaboratively with the Brokerage team to procure care, equipment, and adaptations.

Where appropriately trained, you may act as a Best Interest Assessor for DoLS authorisations. The role also carries a supervisory element, with responsibility for supporting Assessment and Enablement Officers.

Candidates must be registered with Social Work England and hold a recognised social work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent), with demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable adults in a care environment. BIA accreditation is desirable. A minimum of four years’ post-qualifying experience is required.
