Job Description
Sefton MBC is seeking an experienced Childrens Senior Social Worker to join their Children’s Social Care service in Bootle, Merseyside. This is a complex, varied role requiring confident, autonomous practice across a full range of statutory children’s work.
You will hold and manage a complex caseload spanning Children in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children, undertaking direct work with children, young people, and their families. You will prepare written statements and represent the department at Court hearings, undertake Achieving Best Evidence interviews, and chair multi-disciplinary forums as required. Strong risk identification and assessment skills are essential, alongside the ability to model critical reflection and evidence-based decision making for colleagues.
You will contribute to the professional development of the team, including the supervision, teaching, and assessment of social work students on practice placements. High-quality, timely recording on ICS and adherence to policy, procedures, and legislative frameworks are essential requirements of the post.
This is a locum role based at Trinity Road, Bootle, L20 3NJ, paying £26.87–£35.33 per hour via Prism, starting 14 September 2026. Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
