Childrens Senior Social Worker – Assessment & MASH – #OR112289

Job Description

Isle of Wight Council is seeking an experienced Agency Senior Social Worker with a strong background in both statutory assessments and MASH/front door work, based at County Hall, Newport, Isle of Wight (PO30 1UD). The rate is £31.50–£42.00 per hour, starting 31 August 2026.

You will complete high-quality, child-centred assessments that are analytical, outcome-focused, and delivered within statutory timescales. You will demonstrate sound assessment skills, confidence in identifying risk and need, and the ability to make recommendations that lead to the right outcomes for children and families.

Alongside assessment work, you will undertake MASH triage duties — gathering and analysing information from partner agencies, contacting families, determining the appropriate threshold for intervention, and making timely, evidence-based decisions to ensure children receive the right level of support at the right time.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive practitioner with excellent communication skills, strong professional judgement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Social Work England registration is essential.
