Job Description
Darlington Borough Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Senior Social Worker to support duty functions across its Assessment and Safeguarding teams, based at the Town Hall, DL1 5QT. Start date 31 July 2026.
In this fast-paced duty role you will be the first point of professional response to urgent referrals, carrying out duty visits, completing urgent safety plans, conducting s.47 investigations, and undertaking assessments to determine whether cases require ongoing longer-term safeguarding support. Completed cases will be reallocated to long-term safeguarding social workers, so strong assessment skills and the ability to work at pace are essential.
Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Previous experience in a children’s duty, assessment, or safeguarding team is essential. If you are a confident, qualified practitioner ready to make an immediate impact, please get in touch.
