Job Description
Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced Childrens Senior Practitioner to join its Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Service, based in Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU). This is a complex and highly rewarding role working with some of the city’s most vulnerable children and young people.
You will hold a caseload of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people, safeguarding their welfare whilst ensuring all statutory responsibilities are met. Key duties include completing high-quality assessments, creating and reviewing child-in-need and child-protection plans within multi-agency frameworks, preparing reports for conferences, courts and panels, and maintaining accurate records on management information systems.
You will work collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver joined-up services, contribute positively to team meetings and service reviews, and support colleagues in line with the Professional Capability Framework and Social Work England’s Code of Practice.
Essential requirements: an approved social work qualification, current registration with Social Work England, and significant experience of working with vulnerable children and families. Experience of multi-agency and statutory partnership working is also required.
This is a locum contract with Birmingham Children’s Trust, paying £24.51–£33.29 per hour via the Prism portal, with a start date of 29 June 2026. Apply now to be considered.
