Childrens Principal Social Worker – MASH – #OR113136

August 25, 2026
£32 - £42 / hour

Job Description

An exciting interim opportunity has arisen for an experienced Childrens Principal Social Worker to join the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) at Cardiff Council, co-located within Cardiff Bay Police Station alongside partner agencies.

This is a fast-paced, office-based role with no case holding but a constantly evolving workload. You will be responsible for the timely risk assessment of contacts and referrals into the MASH, early identification of individuals at risk, and contributing to multi-agency strategy discussions to drive safeguarding decisions and actions.

Working under the guidance of the Team Manager, you will lead a small sub-team, taking responsibility for staff development, supervision, and chairing high-risk Strategy Meetings on a rotational basis. You will also support the Team Manager with referral ‘ragging’, allocations, and the authorisation of Social Workers’ assessments.

Strong collaborative skills are essential, as you will work closely with MASH partner agencies to promote professional and meaningful relationships, contribute to service development, and participate in Task Force Groups.

This role is offered on an interim basis at £31.70–£41.58 per hour via Prism, with an anticipated start of 14 September 2026. Social Work England registration is required. To find out more, please get in touch today.
