Job Description
Leeds City Council is seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join its Integrated Safeguarding Unit in Leeds (LS6) on a temporary basis from 13 July to 27 July 2026, at a rate of £35.13 per hour.
As an IRO you will make a meaningful contribution to improving outcomes for looked-after children by quality assuring the care planning process and ensuring each child’s wishes and feelings are fully considered. You will chair Looked After Children review meetings held at statutory intervals, and between reviews you will monitor care plan progress, guarding against drift or delay in achieving permanence and ensuring key recommendations from previous reviews are progressed in a timely manner.
Candidates must be qualified social workers with a minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience and the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to fulfil the IRO role. Registration with Social Work England is essential.
