Job Description
Gateshead Council is seeking an Assistant Team Manager to join its award-winning Kinship Care Team within Children’s Social Care. This is a hybrid role based at Gateshead Council Civic Centre, NE8 1HH, paying £36.61 per hour, available from 22 July 2026.

You will deliver reflective supervision, chair planning and strategy meetings, act as Agency Advisor to the Kinship Care Fostering/Permanence Panel, and prepare court reports. You will also promote inter-agency working, manage budgets, and contribute to the long-term strategy for kinship care across Gateshead.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You will need extensive children’s social work experience including child protection and children in care, proven supervisory or management ability, strong knowledge of fostering standards, and a current driving licence with access to transport.
